RECRUITMENT

DEAR PNMS

DEAR PNMS

Dear Potential New Member,

Dear Potential New Member,

There are truly no words to fully describe how you are feeling right now. Some of you may feel excitement to start this new journey, and some of you might be feeling nervous about this next chapter. I, myself, remember being in your shoes a few short years ago. My heart was heavy as I packed up my childhood room, said goodbye to my family and friends and drove 650 miles away from home. I was completely overwhelmed with different emotions as I took on this next chapter of my life.

As I went through recruitment week, I was searching for a place where I could feel safe and loved, where I could truly be myself, and where I could form friendships that would last a lifetime. I wanted a sisterhood that would become my home and help me grow into the woman I am today. I am so full of gratitude that I found exactly that—and so much more within Phi Mu.

The women that this process brought me are so beautiful inside and out. These women are the ones who I laugh with until my stomach hurts, who celebrate all my achievements with me no matter the size. These are also the women who I have leaned on during my lows, who I find love and comfort in when I need them most. I truly have found my lifelong friends, the women who I am excited to share the next milestones of my life with, who I know will be by my side through the mountains and the valleys of life.

I pray that each of you find a place that feels like home, when home feels so far away. I know that things can feel uncertain as you go through this process but know that there is a plan for you- and it is so sweet. I hope that you never forget how uniquely and wonderfully made you are. You are not defined by letters on a shirt but by the love of our Lord. Trust in Him, for He will guide you to the place you are meant to be. The place that will allow you to flourish and grow.

My advice for you is simple- take in every single moment of this process and your overall collegiate experience, because you are going to blink and next thing you know, you will be starting senior year wondering where all the time went. So dance with your best friends, and scream that song in the car down Jackson Ave. Lock the Vaught, and watch the Oxford sunsets. Join various organizations, and try new things. Go get that late night sweet treat, and study in the Grove in the spring. Enjoy a sweet Saturday in Swazey, and take in the beautiful Ole Miss campus as you walk to class. Sit with someone new at lunch, and make new friends in your classes. Most importantly, be goofy and silly, and love fully and loudly always!

I am so excited for you to start this next chapter and I wish you the best of luck!

With love,

Mia Funck- Siemieniec
